Joe Versus the Volcano
Director: John Patrick Shanley
Year Released: 1990
Rating: 2.5
Joe (Tom Hanks) finds out he has six-months to live (pesky "brain clouds"), gets offer from Lloyd Bridges to jump in a volcano. It isn't the most meaningful film ever made, I agree, but it can be charming, especially when you put Hanks together with Meg Ryan (playing three different women - the first two annoying, the last being 'Meg herself'), and I dare you not to find some goofy charm in the story, which is, at times, surprisingly fanciful (the man plays golf on tied-up luggage). If I have six months to live I want to go shopping with Ossie Davis and get married by Abe Vigoda.
