Boiler Room
Director: Ben Younger
Year Released: 2000
Rating: 2.5
Both suave and clunky, in equal measure: suave in how the actors talk, walk and behave - their delivery is precise, you want to believe what they're trying to tell you (or teach you, in some cases), but clunky in its plotting, with the volatile father-son relationship, the dating-the-boss'-girlfriend scenario, the my-coworkers-are-all-violent maniacs bar scenes and the entire last act all being detracting factors. It's Kids Playing Broker, and they're good at it, but don't look for any 'ethics' beneath the surface.
