Morbius

Director: Daniel Espinosa
Year Released: 2022
Rating: 1.5

Terminally-ill Dr. Michael Morbius (Jared Leto), whose DNA is apparently "missing a puzzle piece," comes up with a way to create "artificial blood" (like Sartre, he declines the Nobel Prize for it) and then develops a kind of "cure" for his own condition ... except childhood pal Milo (Matt Smith), who's also terribly sick, wants to be "healed" as well (and then goes batty, pun intended).  I'm not sure why there's been so much backlash against this: it's nothing particularly exciting or groundbreaking and adheres to the standard "Marvel Formula" that's been pumped down our throats for what seems like two decades, plus Leto is certainly down for whatever they want him to do (I appreciate how he tries "solving" his problem "like" a scientist most likely would, using himself as his own test subject).  I personally think it's kind of ironic that Leto was cast as a vampire ... and at 50 looks better in real life than people half his age.
