The Lost City
Director: Aaron and Adam Nee
Year Released: 2022
Rating: 1.0
Widowed pulp romance writer Loretta Sage (Sandra Bullock) is abducted by mega-rich "collector" Abigail Fairfax (Daniel Radcliffe) and forced to help him find the fabled "Crown of Fire" - because he's convinced she can understand hieroglyphics, you see - but out to rescue her are male model Alan (a feminized and "safe" Channing Tatum) and former SEAL Jack Trainer (Brad Pitt, always dangerous). I guess it wants to be this cutesy "action/adventure" movie but it's also awfully underdeveloped and essentially a PG-13 version of Disney's Jungle Cruise: the only scenes that provide any kind of real energy are when Pitt shows up to eat various foods and maul a bunch of security guards. Be prepared to wince at its concluding "message" about True Love and getting over the past ... but maybe that's what people want from a popcorn movie. It's not like Danielle Steel is on the dole....
