English-born coupeur Leonard (Mark Rylance) - don't call him a tailor - runs a small clothing store with assistant Mable (Zoey Deutch) in mid-50's Chicago and mobsters Francis (Johnny Flynn) and Richie (Dylan O'Brien) use the back room for nefarious purposes, but one night when Richie gets shot by a rival mob (the LaFontaines), things start to get dicey. Moore's going for this The Usual Suspects-esque 'mystery' - gee, I wonder if the meek craftsman who's obsessed with his trade is hiding something from his own past? - but it seems somewhat padded for time, and there's just one twist too many to make any of it plausible. The performances are noteworthy, however: Rylance does his take on Spacey's "Verbal" Kint and musician Flynn has a nutty (but "loyal") hair-trigger intensity to him.
