Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo

Director: Mike Mitchell
Year Released: 1999
Rating: 2.0

Hapless aquarium cleaner (and plumber?) Deuce (Rob Schneider) gets asked by Argentine gigolo Antoine (Oded Fehr) to take care of his (very pricey) exotic fish while he's away on business but ends up destroying the apartment ... so to pay for it he tries to become a "man whore," with the "assistance" of small-time pimp T.J. (Eddie Griffin).  Some of the bits are complete duds but a few are much funnier than one might expect - Happy Madison productions tend to stay in the "family friendly" PG to PG-13 range so it's interesting to see them venture into R-rated territory, which allows for Amy Poehler's scene-stealing Ruth character (who has Tourette's) to shout obscenities.  Some may say that it's "disrespectful" to people with disabilities, and while it does have fun at their expense, it also acknowledges (and respects) their humanity: nobody's perfect, etc.
