Cyrano
Director: Joe Wright
Year Released: 2021
Rating: 1.0
Yet another adaptation of the Edmond Rostand play, except this time with songs from American band The National: soldier/poet Cyrano de Bergerac (Peter Dinklage) secretly has a crush on Roxanne (Haley Bennett) but she openly loves Christian (Kelvin Harrison Jr.), so Cyrano helps him woo her with his amazing lyrical ability, they both get sent to the front lines by Count de Guiche (Ben Mendelsohn) ... and so on. Wright brings absolutely nothing new to this, except changing Cyrano's "affliction" from sporting a massive nose to having dwarfism, the musical numbers are shot like garish little music videos and the singing ... well, it could have been better. I made a note that this might be the worst thing Matt, Aaron and Bryce have been associated with so far, but then again it's not looking like the best project for anyone involved (except Sicily ... she always looks great).
