I Want You Back (2022) review

Around the same time, both Peter (Charlie Day) and Emma (Jenny Slate) - who work in the same building but on separate floors - get dumped by their respective lovers Anne (Gina Rodriguez) and Noah (Scott Eastwood) and desperately want them back, so they team up to try to break up those new relationships (Peter befriends Noah, Emma tries to get with Anne's new boyfriend).  The premise is familiar but warm at first - both Day and Slate are very likeable and entertaining - but it goes exactly where you think it will (and doesn't do it in a timely fashion): in the process of all this conniving and deception, the leads somehow misread that they are meant for each other (duh!).  I'll never understand being so desperate to try to "win back" someone who basically threw you aside like trash: if you weren't good enough for him/her, he/she doesn't deserve a second of your concern.
