The China Syndrome
Director: James Bridges
Year Released: 1979
Rating: 3.0
Jane Fonda and her cameraman Michael Douglas secretly record an 'accident' at the nuclear power plant that Jack Lemmon is in charge of and attempt to inform the public of what's being covered up. An intense, sophisticated picture - where have these gone to nowadays? - directed and performed as well as possible, it was well received during its release in 1979, and remains thought-provoking; I find it deliciously coincidental that I saw this the same day as Haskell Wexler's Medium Cool. Big complaint: the Network-type ending.
