The Dog Who Wouldn't Be Quiet
Director: Ana Katz
Year Released: 2021
Rating: 1.5
Neighbors approach graphic designer Sebastián (Daniel Katz) about his "lonely" and "crying" dog that's disturbing them so much (except the dog doesn't make a sound), then he takes the pooch to work where they tell him he can't bring it in, then he plays with it in the park and it dies - later on, a meteor hits Earth which makes everyone unable to stand up without oxygen tanks. While I have no issue with trying to do "absurd comedy," I feel like it should be better planned out (and funnier) - this is entirely too random, as if Katz and co-screenwriter Gonzalo Delgado decided to be "fanciful" without any sense of direction or purpose. The wearing of the giant astronaut-type helmets does speak to the current time - we're still experiencing a global pandemic and it seems like the air itself is toxic - but then it quickly moves away from that to brighter days. I mean, it is the new normal after all....
