Teddy

Director: Ludovic and Zoran Boukherma
Year Released: 2020
Rating: 0.5

Small town weirdo Teddy Pruvost (Anthony Bajon), who works as a masseur, gets attacked in the woods by some mythical werewolf and starts to grow hair on his tongue, in his eyeball, etc. and finally launches into an assault on a Bingo Hall when sees his girlfriend Rebecca (Christine Gautier) with another guy.  The mixture of horror, off-beat comedy and young romance doesn't gel - it isn't particularly good at any of those genres - and then to try to pass it off as an "allegory" is, quite frankly, lazy thinking: the "inner rage" emerges when this misfit realizes life wasn't going to go his way and so he hacks up a bunch of innocent people ... so you're saying when there's a mass shooter going bananas it's really because that individual is under some "demonic force" that he cannot control?  Isn't that a bit ... reductive?  Did Kyle Rittenhouse get slashed by a forest creature?
