The Dry

In the fictitious (and experiencing a year-long drought) Kiewarra, Australia - which is supposedly a few hours away from Melbourne - Federal Officer Aaron Falk (Eric Bana) returns home to attend the funeral of his old friend Luke, who allegedly murdered his wife and son and then committed suicide (which he finds suspicious) while emotionally revisiting the death of a former love interest named Ellie (BeBe Bettencourt) decades prior. I like the sneak peek into small town politics and how people struggle to flee from such toxic environments, but in the end this is more than a bit overwrought and entirely too drawn out, and I found the constant flashbacks to be a little monotonous. The entire time I thought Ellie's father was just a little overboard his accusations, but that's what we call "projection" ... or he could have been possessed by BOB.
