Black Widow

Director: Cate Shortland
Year Released: 2021
Rating: 1.0

Russian "sisters" Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) and Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), following years of being apart, find themselves teaming up again to (a.) find the surrogate super-parents they grew up with (David Harbour and Rachel Weisz) in order to (b.) stop cruel General Dreykov (Ray Winstone, so skilled at villainy) from corrupting (and brainwashing) even more young women into becoming hysterectomized assassins.  It has all the usual Marvel plot points (the formula is down quite pat and they're going to keep force feeding it to you), and when it tires of globe trotting (Ohio! Russia! Norway! Russia!) it then goes on (... and on) about the importance of Family (with a capital F), which is the same exact thing the Fast & the Furious franchise has been doing for years (and been justifiably mocked for).  It also emphasizes the need for Sisterhood ... in case anyone needed yet another reminder.
