Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway
Director: Will Gluck
Year Released: 2021
Rating: 1.0
Since the last one left off, Thomas (Domhnall Gleeson) and Bea (Rose Byrne) got married, they've opened up a novelty shop and Bea is a successful self-published author, but things get mixed up when a publishing house (led by David Oyelowo) wants to distribute her books (with "adjustments" made, naturally) and Peter Rabbit (voiced by James Corden), tired of being called the "bad egg" (even though he's always in trouble), runs off and becomes a small time thief with Barnabas (Lennie James), allegedly one of his father's "old friends." Like the first movie, it's Strictly For the Kiddos, only substantially worse for anyone else: Peter's still a petulant brat (like the person supplying his speaking voice), and the movie's asking for you to root for him robbing small-time farmers (which ends up with his friends being captured and "imprisoned") while the second storyline, about Bea's book and "artistic integrity," is just a tad ironic considering this is a bastardization of Beatrix Potter's original vision (and lovely artwork).
