Paddington

After an earthquake destroys his home (and kills his Uncle) in "darkest Peru," talking bear Paddington (voiced by Ben Whishaw) journeys to London, ends up in Paddington Station and gets temporarily "adopted" by the Browns (Sally Hawkins and Hugh Bonneville), who are determined to find him a new home ... except there's taxidermist Millicent (Nicole Kidman) who wants to stuff him.  The critical praise for this is baffling, since it's exclusively - and I cannot stress that enough - for children and them alone: I cannot believe a single person in the entire movie marvels at the fact that a fairly realistic looking bear is actually talking.  The humor is entirely physical - Paddington is such an oaf he bungles every situation he's in, and it wouldn't surprise me if, given enough time and placed in the correct situation, he could single-handedly kick off World War III.
