Psycho Goreman

Bratty Mimi (Nita-Josée Hanna) and her milquetoast brother find a glowing gem in their back yard that controls a supernatural entity hell-bent on destruction - he refers to himself as the Arch Duke of Nightmares, but they name him "Psycho Goreman" (Matthew Ninaber). Taking a page from the Lloyd Kaufman handbook, Kostanski combines graphic violence with cheesy prosthetics for a very uneven (a lot of it is entirely too drawn-out) but sometimes quite funny DIY sci-fi effort. It's also very - and I mean this in the best way - Canadian in its approach: everyone's very polite and accepting (and sometimes a little passive-aggressive), and no one seems concerned that the one boy was turned into a slithering brain with eyes and tentacles. Put a toque on him and give him some Timmies, he'll be fine.
