Bad Girls Go to Hell

Director: Doris Wishman
Year Released: 1965
Rating: 1.0

After her husband leaves to go to work, Meg (Gigi Darlene) - dressed only in a nightgown - steps out of her apartment and is sexually assaulted by the janitor that she kills in self-defense - in a state of panic, she flees Boston for NYC where she moves in with a "nice" guy who beats her with his belt, then she gets it on with a lesbian (Dawn Bennett), then with another guy who rapes her, etc.  No one sensible can say any of this is "good" - it's crudely made and kind of ridiculous, but it also embodies the DIY spirit (a portion of it was shot in Wishman's apartment) and is pretty scrappy, making those rape scenes even more uncomfortable to watch.  This goes to show that women are just as capable of exploiting their own gender as men are ... if that isn't equality, I don't know what else to say.
