During WWII, pilot "Maude Garrett" (Chloë Grace Moretz) climbs aboard a B-17 with a mysterious package and a bad accent and she's trapped in the plane's ball turret when they get attacked by flying creatures called "Gremlins" (with all due apologies to both Joe Dante and Gizmo). For at least half of the running time it's supposed to represent how a woman feels when surrounded by men, covering the usual topics - gaslighting, mansplaining, sexual harassment, slut-shaming - as both the audience and Moretz are pounded upside the head by "locker room talk," and when it shifts to a straight up action movie (in which Chloë starts punching some giants bats) it somehow gets even worse. I'm not much of a betting man but I have a feeling neither director Liang nor co-screenwriter Max Landis ever took AP Physics.
