Meteorite falls to Earth containing title substance, which proceeds to assimilate all around it. Steve McQueen, in an early performance, has to alert everyone of its presence and save his tiny town (even though - you guessed right - nobody believes him). Cheap looking picture with minimal lighting and even cheaper special effects has gathered an admiring audience though its charm is lost on me - I can think of a half-a-dozen other Z-grade drive-in pictures that have more appeal.
