The Kissing Booth 2

Director: Vince Marcello
Year Released: 2020
Rating: 1.0

With her boyfriend Noah (Jacob Elordi) away at Harvard, high school senior Elle (Joey King) finds herself missing him a lot but suspects him of cheating with elegant Chloe (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) while she is getting a little too close with new student/dance partner Marco (Taylor Zakhar Perez).  Even by teen movie standards it's about as tame and plastic as Saved By the Bell - it has a sitcom-y feel to it - and many of the scenes exist just to show Elle embarrass herself (to her credit, she's like Teflon - nothing sticks), but the cast looks like they're enjoying themselves while the Woke Brigade at Netflix checks off boxes on the "Progressive Chart."  For the exact opposite of this candy-coded vision of young adulthood, feel free to watch HBO's Euphoria, which places Elordi in a way more sinister version of the world.
