Last and First Men (2020) review

Queen Tilda is asked by generations of mutated humans many, many years from now to request the good people of today a favor (in a quite long-winded manner) while late director Jóhannsson (who's best known as a composer) and cinematographer Sturla Brandth Grøvlen spend sixty-plus minutes photographing unappealing structures in black and white.  Some viewers seem to be mesmerized by the minimalism and Ms. Swinton's calm but demanding voice, but this really is just art-house pandering with a message long enough to fit on a billboard ("save the planet").  Dear Future Humans: we'll cut back on CO2 emissions if you promise to craft fancier buildings.  Maybe put a water park in there, perhaps a Dunkin' Donuts....
