The Heart of the World
Director: Guy Maddin
Year Released: 2000
Rating: 3.5
Maddin's best work - bar none - to date (not to say Careful or Tales from the Gimli Hospital are not good) is an infectious 5 minute film that just explodes into a nonstop barrage of imagery. The title 'heart' can represent anything you want it to (you don't expect Maddin to start making sense now, do you?) and there's no denying the power of something so deceptively short. Think of it as the greatest trailer ever made ... for the next century of movie-making.
