Escape From Pretoria

Director: Francis Annan
Year Released: 2020
Rating: 2.0

Anti-apartheid activists Tim Jenkin (Daniel Radcliffe) and Stephen Lee (Daniel Webber) are tossed into Pretoria Central Prison for having the gall to defend the rights of other human beings (they were also known for leaflet bombings), and then devise a plan to escape using wooden keys.  It's yet another Liberal Bait movie - hardcore racists aren't going to be the ones watching it and those that do watch it are merely being congratulated for being on the right side of history - that also doubles as a so-so Prison Escape movie, but unlike the best of those it doesn't do that great of a job detailing what the lads are up to.  The real story should be applauded, but the movie glosses over what was really happening in South Africa at that time.  I can't resist mentioning this because it was the only note I took: Harry Potter would have just cast Alohomora and been done with it.
