The Count of the Old Town
Director: Edvin Adolphson and Sigurd Wallén
Year Released: 1935
Rating: 0.5
Pretty meaningless stuff: small community gossips, falls in love, smuggles beer - it's only note of relevance is that it was Ingrid Bergman's first 'real' movie role (she was nineteen). Fairy tale dynamics fail to convey a sense of charm or generate much curiosity - the town folk never come off as being 'people,' merely gawky cartoons. Not amusing.
