Noelle

Director: Marc Lawrence
Year Released: 2019
Rating: 2.5

At the North Pole, Santa Claus passes away, leaving the role of Gift Delivery to his only son Nick Kringle (Bill Hader) who freaks out at the life path already set in stone for him, so he flees to Phoenix, Arizona to start over (as a yoga instructor) but his sister Noelle (Anna Kendrick) goes looking for him (along with Shirley MacLaine) to drag him back and make him fulfill his destiny.  While it is innocent to a fault - it even has a rare G-rating! - and so sappy critics in the 1940's might have rolled their eyes, it's not that bad of a Holiday movie, although a lot is based on how well you respond to Kendrick's doe-eyed chirpiness (I think she's adorable).  It concludes with the (expected) 'twist' that the role of Santa is not and should not be gender exclusive ... plus I'd rather have Anna dropping down my chimney than one of Jeff Bezos' drones.
