House of Wax
Director: André de Toth
Year Released: 1953
Rating: 1.5
A fiery beginning and a slightly creepy ending are the only real redeeming bits for this extremely dated Vincent Price horror film, which was a box-office smash. The screenwriters must have taken the day off with the logic: why use real people as wax statues when the craftsmen you've hired to work on the exhibits are prodigiously talented (merely for revenge tactics?). When you go to a wax museum, do you look at the statues and wonder if they are made out of corpses?
