The Beach Bum
Director: Harmony Korine

Adulterer, drunk, stoner and poet Moondog (Matthew McConaughey), who lives off his wife Minnie's (Isla Fisher) money, gets her killed in an automobile accident one night after learning about her affair with Lingerie (Snoop Dogg!) ... this goes by like it was no big deal and he keeps on getting drunk and high. I guess the big 'joke' of it is that Moondog never gets his comeuppance for all his transgressions: everyone seems just 'accept' the vehicular homicide (even his daughter), his damaging his own home, his theft, his vandalism, his breaking out of rehab ... and he even gets rewarded for such actions, by writing a book and getting nominated for a Pulitzer and inheriting $50 million (which he then intentionally sets on fire). It's all pretty one-note - albeit with beautifully bright neon cinematography by Benoît Debie - with the weirdo side characters thrown in for color - Martin Lawrence getting chewed up by a shark, Jonah Hill trying out a bad accent, Zac Efron's face looking like a panini - although McConaughey is so transfixing I'm not even sure he's acting any more.
