In the late 1970's/early 1980's, a number of Ethiopian Jews are trapped in Sudan (and their lives were in danger), so Israeli agents Ari (Chris Evans), Dr. Sammy (Alessandro Nivola) and Rachel (Haley Bennett) set up the title "hotel," which is just a front to sneak the refugees out ... except the Sudanese military is not in favor of this maneuver. It's a shame the way it's written makes it look generic and pandering - "We're assembling a crack team," the Control Room back in Israel cheers when the plan works, bad guys have ESP, there are plenty of children in danger and they have sad faces - because it's actually a nice story about unity and "returning home." Evans plays the lead with such machismo he could have been called Captain Zion (he just needed a shield).
