John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum
Director: Chad Stahelski
Year Released: 2019
Rating: 2.5
When Chapter 2 of this series ended, super-killer John Wick (Keanu Reeves) had a mark placed on his head for 14 million bucks as a result of shooting someone inside the Continental Hotel (where such actions are forbidden), so the entirety of this is him in Survival Mode, fending off half of the world (with assistance from Halle Berry and some others). Let's be honest here: no one is watching this for any semblance of plot or character or dialogue (Keanu doesn't have many lines), but what it is about is how many cleverly-constructed fight sequences there are - he's on horseback, he's on a motorcycle, he makes his own custom pistol, he does kickboxing, he even dispatches a guy with a hardbound book ... it's always been more about set-design and fight choreography and the laconic Reeves being indestructible. You know what? That's all it needs to be, so suspend all disbelief and passively absorb the carnage. I'm rooting for him and his doggo.
