Beneath the Valley of the Ultra-Vixens
Director: Russ Meyer
Year Released: 1979
Rating: 0.5
Doltish Lamar (Ken Kerr) has some sexual problems he can't get over - he prefers the 'back door' instead of the 'front one' - which 'forces' his nymphomaniac wife Lavonia (Kitty Natividad) to fornicate with every other able-bodied man in town (including a teenager); to "fix himself" Lamar seeks the "holy intervention" of sultry radio DJ Eufaula Roop (Ann Marie). I guess we should 'appreciate' Meyer's single-minded obsession with unrealistically proportioned women - pursue your passion! - and his own idiosyncratic vision of "female empowerment" (they are tough ladies, I'll give 'em that), but ninety minutes of yelping/shrieking/panting, endless shots of his actresses shaking their watermelons in front of the camera and Natividad acting like she's having an epileptic fit while engaged in intercourse (all those rapid cuts!) is so over-the-top and silly it's hard to tolerate. Meyer co-wrote this with film critic Roger Ebert ... except they both used pseudonyms for reasons that don't need to be spelled out. Best line: "Get your ass out of my face! I don't eat pussy, it's un-American."
