The Silence
Director: John R. Leonetti
Year Released: 2019
Rating: 0.5
Yet another post-apocalyptic movie (feel free to groan ... again) about blind aliens with ultra-crisp hearing abilities chewing up the Planet Earth, so Dad Hugh (Stanley Tucci), his hearing-impaired daughter Ally (Kiernan Shipka) and the rest of the family has to head north, because the flying piranha-demons don't like freezing conditions. It's an even less thrilling variation of Bird Box and A Quiet Place despite having a competent cast - Tucci is one of our best actors - and some above-average effects. Even the ending - safety achieved? - feels hastily arrived at, but that was probably due to some judicious trimming and/or everyone involved just wanting to call it a day.
