A trio of overly protective parents (Leslie Mann, John Cena and Ike Barinholtz) actually have the gall to follow their three daughters (Kathryn Newton, Geraldine Viswanathan and Gideon Adlon) on their prom night to keep them from losing their virginity to their dates (how they didn't do it before the age of 18 is beyond me). As immature as the movie can be, with its "adults" behaving like kids (I honestly didn't need to see a pair of testicles squeezed ... or watch John Cena get beer poured in his derriere), there's actually a decent message in there about parents trusting that their offspring will make good decisions and that daughters aren't fair maidens in need of being rescued all the time. Cena (best known as a professional wrestler), Mann and Barinholtz gel as an offbeat comedy team (Barinholtz in particular is a scene-stealer); Adlon (who looks like a younger, nerdier Alicia Vikander) handles her character's coming-out with poise and dignity. Who needs prom night to get some when you have the first two weeks of your Freshman year of college? They act like rabbits, I tell ya.
