Avengers: Infinity War
Director: Anthony and Joe Russo
Year Released: 2018
Rating: 2.0
As it turns out, not all is well in Marvel Land: power-mad Thanos (voiced by Josh Brolin) seeks out all six Infinity Stones (super-powerful gems) to fit cozily in a glove, snap his fingers and cause the superheroes to turn into dust (which, if you've been watching all of these damn things, doesn't sound like the worst idea). While clearly running out of places to go with their "storylines," they've decided to try to pull the "emotional" card and take out everyone's favorite characters, but they still have a long way to go to enter moody-brooding DC territory: the grand wipe-out is supposed to be a tragic moment, but the skies are bright and anyone following along should realize there will be some writer's trick at the ready to resurrect the troops in future installments (gotta keep the cash machine crankin'). Despite the (telegraphed) march to the void, it's hard to find a cast this stacked unwatchable (three cheers for Robert Downey Jr. and Benedict Cumberbatch): the popcorn is stale and could use more salt, but it's edible.
