Water Drops on Burning Rocks
Director: François Ozon
Year Released: 1999
Rating: 2.0
Young, "confused" male goes home one night with an older man, they enter in a strange relationship that's basically The Odd Couple, young girl comes back into young man's life, his confusion erupts, he self-destructs. Too simplistic, if you ask me - R. W. Fassbinder wrote it in his late teens and it isn't so much immature as unrefined (Fassbinder no doubt knew this, never filming it himself) and unfocused (Ozon won't even take it seriously - come on, a dance number? I thought that was a Godard-only thing).
