Despicable Me 3
Director: Kyle Balda, Pierre Coffin and Eric Guillon
Year Released: 2017
Rating: 1.0
Villain-turned-"hero" Gru (voiced by Steve Carell) and gal-pal Lucy (Kristen Wiig) get "let go" from their jobs for failing to capture 80's-obsessed weirdo Balthazar Bratt (Trey Parker) - later, an unemployed Gru reunites with his long-lost brother Dru (Carell again). As a screenwriter, any time you have to pull the "lost sibling" card to form your plot the creative puddle that may have once existed is now fully dried up - same goes for the unoriginal Bratt character, who is some former child-star-turned-megalomaniac and unable to get over the past. If anything, this introduces Generation Z to Dire Straits, Olivia Newton-John, Van Halen and Berlin ... so they can quickly draw the conclusion much of the music to come out of the 1980's was garbage and not worthy of their time.
