Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Director: James Gunn
Year Released: 2017
Rating: 2.0

Continuation of the chaotic mis-adventures of a certain Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), green lady Gamora (Zoe Saldana), burly Drax (Dave Bautista), ill-mannered Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and a tiny Groot is mostly about Pratt's Dad Issues: he was raised by criminal Yondu (Michael Rooker) but was sired by deity (with a lower-case "d") Ego (Kurt Russell) ... plus there's a healthy dose of Gamora's Sibling Rivalry (she dukes it out with her cybernetic sis). Few (if any) of these Marvel movies are what you would call 'unique' (the template remains in place with the characters swapped in and out) so what's left is to enjoy Gunn's playfulness: the classic rock, the sarcasm of Mr. Trash Panda, the swirling/zig-zagging camerawork. Russell also looks like he's having a good time, matching Snake Plisskin's arrogance with god-like superpowers (he built his own planet ... without a Dunkin Donuts? what foolishness!).
