Title getaway guy (Ansel Elgort), an audiophile with a tragic past (Mom & Dad were killed in an auto accident and he has severe tinnitus), works for criminal mastermind Doc (Kevin Spacey) but wants to get out of the biz and drive off into a rainbow with diner darling Debora (Lily James) ... but Doc's impressed with his skills and makes leaving difficult (Jamie Foxx and Jon Hamm's sociopaths also stand in the way). Fundamentally speaking, it's a pop puff piece that's little more than the sum of its influences (Walter Hill's The Driver being one of them ... Doug Liman's Go being another) - you've seen all of this before in multiple movies, but Wright mashes those flicks together into one massive gooey parfait ... and I'll be damned if it isn't an entertaining romp, with the action timing up delightfully with the non-stop music (praise the editing prowess of Jonathan Amos and Paul Machliss). Sky Ferreira has a small role as Baby's Mom, but her breathy (and reverential) cover of The Commodores' Easy is a highlight.
