Alien: Covenant
Director: Ridley Scott
Year Released: 2017
Rating: 1.5
A crew of (what should have been) intelligent scientists (including Katherine Waterston and Danny McBride), along with a "good" android named Walter (Michael Fassbender) travel to a new planet they believe they can colonize ... except those nasty black long-headed baddies are everywhere, as well as another android from Prometheus, David (Fassbender in a dual role) ... who has a God Complex. The script is a lazy re-write of 1979's Alien, except the 'characters' in this lack any kind of common sense and they aren't developed properly - when they get wiped out one by one, it's tough to care - but I will applaud it for the feel-bad ending, which I should have seen coming but didn't (Wagner, a German-born actor, genetic manipulation ... you get what Scott's suggesting). There's a James Franco Cameo Appearance right in the beginning, but he gets barbecued immediately ... thereby preventing him from mailing in a performance.
