Rat Race
Director: Jerry Zucker
Year Released: 2001
Rating: 0.5
Horrid, time-wasting re-deux of It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World - it's real bad bad bad bad slow. Jokes are lifted from countless sources - cows emit fluids a la Tom Green, cars crackle and burn like Landis' The Blues Brothers, and there are plenty of foreigners and eccentrics (like Kathy Bates as a lady that sells squirrels) to go around. You're in trouble already when the best scene is straight out of Seinfeld, with the unstoppable Jon Lovitz (unknowingly) doing Hitler shtick in front of World War II veterans. Zucker used to make good films - see those first (Kentucky Fried Movie, Airplane!, Ruthless People).
