The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
Director: Guy Ritchie
Year Released: 2015
Rating: 2.0
In post-WWII Germany, American agent Napoleon Solo (Henry Cavill) is given an order to capture Gaby (Alicia Vikander), the daughter of a nuclear scientist, but the Russians want her too ... so they send super-strong (and neurotic) Illya Kuryakin (Armie Hammer) in pursuit - eventually, everyone teams up to foil a common enemy: those damn Nazis. As far as reboots go, this one is around average: Ritchie's still a hyper-stylist, worrying more about his camera positions, the decor and what pop songs he can use instead of what's going on in his story (plus, the jumpy editing - to reveal 'what actually happened' - gets distracting). The cast is pleasant enough - Hammer relishes the sidekick role, Cavill's doing the best Bond impersonation he can, Vikander can pout and scowl like nobody's business - but in a flooded spy-spoof genre, it's quickly forgettable.
