Me Before You
Director: Thea Sharrock
Year Released: 2016
Rating: 1.0
Bouncy (and colorfully dressed) former waitress Lou (Emilia Clarke) is hired to be a caretaker for disabled Will Traynor (Sam Claflin), who had a promising future before a motorcycle hit him - as expected, he's determined to end his own life and end the suffering while she takes it upon herself to 'save him.' The insultingly cookie-cutter script basically goes through every single soapy cliché one can imagine - Lou's jealous boyfriend, Will's health problems and hospital visits, dreams of Paris and youthful vigor, a love-that-can-never-be - with only Clarke's bubbly demeanor and mismatching clothes adding any kind of spark. Those familiar with Clarke from Game of Thrones (or even Terminator Genisys) will see a very different side of her: you know, one without dragons or frontal nudity.
