Dior and I

Belgian designer Raf Simons, freshly-appointed as creative director for noted fashion brand Christian Dior, is shown working on haute couture dresses for the brand's runway show, with the assistance of many exemplary couturiers. While all it basically amounts to is a feature length-advertisement for the company (or an extra long special on a channel like Bravo) with some typical hiccups along the way (the dresses aren't done fast enough! we only have so much time, hurry, hurry!), it does give a good amount of time and attention to the devotion of the seamstresses who have to put all of Simons' creations together (dress making, to me, looks like a tiresome endeavor) and juxtaposes Simons' vision with that of the founder of the house (with Dior's own words from his diary used in voice over). Naturally, it concludes with a successful runway show in an old mansion filled with flowers and celebrities offering praise: pats on the back all around!
