Blackhat
Director: Michael Mann
Year Released: 2015
Rating: 2.0
An imprisoned hacker (Chris Hemsworth ... just a bit miscast) is summoned by the Feds to work with them and the Chinese police in order to hunt down a fellow rogue hacker who is sabotaging nuclear plants. The first half is laughable techno-jargon and tacky CGI of "information" swirling around microchips and such (not to mention a hastily-constructed 'love connection' between Hemsworth and Tang Wei's character), but it really takes off in the second half when Mann is allowed to do what he does best: stage run-and-shoot sequences in scenic locations. I'm not all that knowledgeable on super-secret coding techniques to tell how accurate the movie is in that regard, but I have a good feeling Hemsworth, in real life, probably neglects to clean out his Spam folder.
