Shifty art-dealer Mortdecai (Johnny Depp), along with his too-loyal 'manservant' Jock (Paul Bettany), go in search of a lost Goya that may have Swiss Bank Account information written on the back of it ... unfortunately, a lot of other people want the painting too (including British Intelligence and a terrorist). Any movie that leans so heavily on a running joke involving Depp's mustache should have been probably been re-written a few more times, and the last act is a cluster of inane twists and turns (duplicate paintings!); it attempts 'zany' but it's more or less the cast watching Depp swish around and behave eccentrically (he really is trying to emulate Brando's film career). Amidst the dated trappings is a surprisingly warm performance by Bettany, who is normally not the comedic sidekick: in this case, he's loveable thug who has a bit of a sex addiction problem and doesn't mind getting shot at by his boss (and you thought yearly Performance Reviews were bad)....
