John Wick
Director: Chad Stahelski and David Leitch
Year Released: 2014
Rating: 2.0
Retired assassin John Wick (Keanu Reeves) gets dragged back into the ol' killing game after his wife (Bridget Moynahan, mostly seen on an iPhone screen) dies of an illness and some Russian punks (lead by Lily Allen's brother Alfie) kill his dog and steal his Mustang (bad move Russian punks). This slick trifle has its inhabitants delivering some atrocious dialogue while lapsing into action movie clichés - in one particular scene where Tarasov (Michael Nyqvist) has Wick captured, instead of shooting him, they have a chat and Tarasov leaves (leaving Wick to, well, wipe out everyone). That said, it might hit that sweet spot if you're looking for a popcorn movie to get lost in. Moral of the story: 119 characters' lives = the life of one (1) pooch.
