Environmental "activists"/domestic terrorists Josh (Jesse Eisenberg), Dena (Dakota Fanning) and Harmon (Peter Sarsgaard) plan and execute an attack on a hydroelectric dam in the Pacific Northwest United States and then disperse and hide to evade the authorities. As to why they would commit such a crime or the personal motivations that would lead these figures to do such a thing is probably better left to a more probing filmmaker - Reichardt, forever the minimalist, lets the actions speak for themselves and provides less-than-optimal insight into her creations' psyches. It's terminally vague and deliberately uninvolving: purely an exercise in scenic filmmaking.
