I Walked With a Zombie (1943) review

Had expected this to be like Tourneur's horror/suspense pictures and wound up being disappointed when it develops into a rather bland and mighty pretentious statement about mysticism. Framed wonderfully, but the actors seem immobile and the pacing is too slow. Mentally drifted off while watching - which is very rare - and it runs just a little over an hour. Not my 'cup,' apparently, since the critical consensus is very, very favorable.
