British researchers stumble upon an mummy (Boris Karloff) that they mistakenly bring back to life - a little while later, the reanimated being seeks a spouse in the form of Helen (Zita Johann). Unless you find close-ups of Karloff's face-as-a-prune to be frightening this isn't "horrifying" per se, though it does sustain a steady mood of dread that classic movies don't always manage to succeed at. The message about how science should be careful in dealing with the deceased (and the supernatural) may be viewed by some as quaint but it does have some practical applications....
