In this popcorn-gobbling half-joke of a movie, a warrior named X-Blade (Rick Yune) sets out to avenge the death of his father with the help of a too-cool British soldier (Crowe) and a blacksmith who can make powerful weapons (RZA). It's still good to know that 40-something Robert Diggs, better known as the RZA from the Wu-Tang Clan, is still in touch with his inner 15-year-old self, with its curiosity for severed limbs, buckets of blood and Russell Crowe removing what appear to be Ben-Wa Balls from a prostitute's hoo-ha with his teeth. Less developed is the threadbare plot or the dialogue, so it's probably best to look at this as RZA's homage to the chop-socky grindhouse movies that provided so much inspiration for his musical endeavors: his brilliance as a hip-hop producer doesn't seem to be matched as a screenwriter, director or actor, but his sense of 'fun' is there.
