Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning
Director: John Hyams
Year Released: 2012
Rating: 0.5
A super soldier (Scott Adkins) has his wife and daughter murdered in front of him, so when he awakes in a hospital, he's out to get those responsible, namely Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren. Basically straight-to-video garbage, with all the trappings: hammy dialogue, incomprehensible plot (and even more incomprehensible plot 'twists'), horrendous "acting." What's with the strobe effects, too? Screen flickering: fine when the avant-garde masters did it (Kubelka, Conrad, etc.) ... not so much with lame beat-'em-ups.
